Our best work
These are the ten stories we are proudest of, chosen by our founder: investigations, interviews and documentaries that took records, travel and, at times, legal threats to publish. Each one links to the full story.

1. How a “Doctor” Suspended in South Africa Allegedly for Fraud Was Able to Obtain a Licence in Alberta
Why it matters: Our undercover investigation traces how a doctor suspended in South Africa, allegedly for fraud, came to practise in Alberta, where Baby Alita’s family says he sent her home hours before she died. It includes our documentary Sent Home to Die.

2. Humboldt Father Speaks Out, Exposes Why Sidhu Still Avoids Deportation: “He Only Cares About Himself"
Why it matters: Chris Joseph, a former NHL player whose son Jaxon was killed in the Humboldt Broncos crash, tells us why Jaskirat Sidhu should still be deported.

3. “You Ruined My Life”: Crown Refuses to Lay Charges on Cops who Brutalized Innocent 17-Year-Old Girl
Why it matters: Haylie Nahamko-White was 17 when two Edmonton Police officers in an unmarked car tackled her; police said they mistook her for a 25-year-old woman. After the Crown ruled out charges, we named the officers for the first time.

4. Censorship Failed: Missing ~$3 Million+ Dominates the Election Debate in Empress, Alberta
Why it matters: We were told to leave an Empress election debate because the hall manager disliked our reporting on missing gravel revenue. A complaint alleges millions in aggregate left an unauthorized pit with no matching village revenue; a forensic accounting review found a gap of about $3 million.

5. 1984 Sikh Genocide? Critics Warn the Term Undermines “Real Genocides”
Why it matters: Our documentary examines the push to call the 1984 anti-Sikh violence a “genocide”, and critics who warn the term undermines “real genocides”.

6. EXPOSED: Canadian Federal Corruption in the Historic P3 Regina Bypass Project in Saskatchewan
Why it matters: Our most-read story: a supplier with leaked documents and recordings alleges corruption in Saskatchewan’s $2-billion Regina Bypass P3 project.

7. Can the U.S. Extradite Canadian Politicians for Corruption? Insights from Dr. Gary Botting
Why it matters: An extended interview with Dr. Gary Botting, a former criminal defence lawyer and author of a leading extradition-law textbook, on whether the U.S. can extradite Canadian politicians for corruption.

8. 'Dr. Khalistan' Confirms Graduation from a University Shut Down for Selling Fake Medical Diplomas
Why it matters: We questioned Dr. Bakhshish Singh Sandhu, then under investigation by Pennsylvania’s medical board, about his credentials and his group’s secessionist goals. He challenged us to donate $10,000 if he proved his qualifications.

9. Remembering Officer Hopkinson: The Forgotten 1914 Courthouse Assassination
Why it matters: Bob Rai explains why he calls Mewa Singh, convicted and executed for assassinating immigration officer William Hopkinson in a courthouse in 1914, “a criminal of the highest order” rather than a hero.

10. EXCLUSIVE: Nigerian “Dr.” Guilty of Sexual Misconduct Toward a Minor, Allowed to Practice in Alberta
Why it matters: Our first report on Imafidon “Thomas” Izekor: suspended in Saskatchewan after misconduct findings, one involving a 16-year-old, yet still allowed by Alberta’s medical regulator to see patients.
