Amarjeet Sohi: Contracts, Disclosures and a Lawsuit
Amarjeet Sohi is a former federal Liberal infrastructure minister and the current Mayor of Edmonton. This series examines allegations brought forward largely by Alberta aggregate supplier Bob Rai. They concern the period when Sohi was a city councillor and the City of Edmonton awarded contracts reportedly worth millions to Whiterock Ventures, a trucking company owned by his brother Harkesh Sohi, his former campaign manager and other election donors. FOIP records we obtained show that Sohi disclosed no companies during those years. The City of Edmonton says it has complied with all disclosure requirements. The series also publishes council disclosure records, revisits federal P3 infrastructure projects, and documents questions that went unanswered. In October 2024, Sohi filed a statement of claim against Media Bezirgan and its source, and JSS Barristers was retained for the defence. The allegations have not been proven in court.
