EXCLUSIVE: RCMP Probe Found Alberta Prosecutors Relied on Foreign Doctor with Falsified Experience
Latest: Part 4, May 1, 2026

Dr. Bamidele Adeagbo worked as a forensic pathologist in Alberta. His work influenced roughly 5,000 autopsies, and he testified for the Crown in criminal cases. This series examines questions about his credentials. In 2019, Justice Terry Clackson publicly criticized his testimony. Reporting since 2023 has detailed inconsistencies in his academic record, and his medical school transcripts from Nigeria were reportedly never verified at the primary source. The Indiana Medical Board decided to take no action. Alberta resident Bob Rai's cousin died in 2014, and Adeagbo deemed the death a suicide. Rai disputes that conclusion. In 2026, we reported that an RCMP investigation had found "inaccuracies" in Adeagbo's CV. The Alberta Crown Prosecution Service nevertheless recommended no perjury charges. David Stephan, whose 2016 conviction relied on Adeagbo's testimony, says he was wrongfully convicted. Adeagbo has not been found guilty of any offence, and the questions raised remain allegations.
