Lawsuit Threat for Exposing a Sneaky Nigerian Doctor’s Sexual Misconduct Investigations
Latest: Part 6, Jul 29, 2026

This series documents what has happened to our reporting itself. In October 2024, Edmonton Mayor Amarjeet Sohi filed a statement of claim against Media Bezirgan and a source, and JSS Barristers was retained for the defence. In June 2025, at a Vancouver rally, individuals including two wearing Babbar Khalsa insignia approached us in what we describe as a coordinated ambush attempt, which we recorded. In Empress, Alberta, a hall manager ordered us out of a public election debate over our earlier coverage, and a physical altercation followed. In 2026, we filed a U.S. federal lawsuit against Times Internet Limited, alleging copyright infringement and false statements in a DMCA counter-notification. Alberta Health Services issued us a year-long ban from all its hospitals after we made a brief interview request about a suspended doctor. A lawyer for Dr. Adegbenga Rabiu sent us a demand letter threatening suit unless we deleted our reporting. These are our accounts, and the other parties may dispute them.
