I just obtained the bail conditions of Tejinder Singh, the 30-year-old Medicine Hat ride-share driver charged after police say he followed his female passenger into her home in the middle of the night and sexually assaulted her.
On June 7, 2026, Tejinder Singh was granted bail by Non-Presiding Justice of the Peace C. Mottershead on $0 bail, only a promise to pay $1,000 should he fail to appear. Today’s hearing was adjourned to July 16, 2026, following his lawyer’s request for time to review disclosure.
Singh's conditions include no contact with the alleged victim, staying away from her address, surrendering all weapons, and specifically no knives or other edged items except when eating a meal.
Here’s the part that jumped out: As you can tell by the name Tejinder Singh, he is very likely a Sikh. The Supreme Court of Canada has ruled that the kirpan (Sikh religious dagger) is "above all a religious symbol."So does this bail order actually allow him to carry one?
