Alberta’s frigid temperatures did not deter Street Church’s 27 year weekly tradition of feeding the homeless, especially at Christmas.
Pastor Artur Pawlowski and his volunteers prepared generous steak meals for the less fortunate, emphasizing that, “This is a season where lots of people are celebrating with family dinners and coming together, but there is also a group of people who are lonely, depressed, even suicidal, and don’t have a place to go.”
“Don’t feed people drugs. Give them food. Give them a warm place to stay,” Pawlowski said. “The Bible is very clear. You preach not just with words, but with deeds.”
As Christmas carols echoed through the cold air, the less fortunate were fed. For a brief moment, concerns arose when several police officers arrived. However, the volunteers were left alone to continue serving the people.
