Family and supporters gathered at the Medicine Hat Remand Centre to mark the second birthday in pre-trial custody for Tony Olienick and Jerry Morin.
The charges stem from an anti-mandate protest in Coutts, Alberta, where four men are accused of conspiring to murder RCMP officers. During this protest, dozens of farmers, truckers, and thousands of supporters engaged in an 18-day-long peaceful demonstration that intermittently blockaded the US-Canada border.
4 men have been serving 560+ days without a guilty verdict, leading some to believe them to be political prisoners.
Gratitude was expressed by the mothers of Chris Carbert and Tony Olienick towards the supportive attendees.
Following a week-long trial with publication bans in late July, the court adjourned without substantial progress until November 1st.
With bail denied, these four men are expected to remain behind bars.
